Research Focus

I am interested in multiciliated epithelial cells, which have motile cilia that beat in a coordinated pattern to drive fluid flow within the trachea, reproductive tract, and brain. Each motile cilia is nucleated by a centriole, meaning each multiciliated cell must build tens to hundreds of centrioles. My research focuses on how multiciliated cells undergo centriole amplification, and how this process differs from the precisely controlled centriole duplication that occurs in cycling cells.
